We ensure all our customers glass is recycled! We are very proud top be working with O-I in Alloa & Viridor in Motherwell. Your old glass bottle or jar could be back on the shelves as a new glass product in as little as 30 days!
Just leave your box kerbside or in an agreed location for 0800hrs on the day of collection and we will ensure that your glass is emptied and recycled properly.

Collection will be made either fortnightly or 4 weekly depending on your requirements and these will be shown on your uplift calendar and announced on all our social media channels the day before. On the day of collection, we require your box kerbside or in an agreed location, our operatives will arrive, empty your glass into our vehicle and replace your box in a safe location. Once we uplift your glass it is taken to our holding bay in Alloa where we then transport, 28tonne at a time to a recycling plant to be turned into glass cullet. This glass cullet is then used in the making of new glass bottles at O-I in Alloa
We accept glass bottles and jars of all colours, all types of Wine, Beer and Spirits along with Pasta Sauce, Coffee & Jam Jars. Any Jars which have contained food should be emptied and rinsed out. Please remember certain household product glass such as Mirrors, Pyrex, Drinking Glasses and Light Bulbs cannot be recycled in your box and should be upcycled or disposed of in general waste.

The Bottle Genies have sourced a 55ltr glass recycling box manufactured in the UK from recycled plastic. These boxes are strong and perfect for holding 40 – 50 mixed bottles.
The Bottle Genies (Scotland) Ltd hold a Waste Carriers Licence and are SEPA registered for storing and transporting glass waste.

We try to ensure the glass we collect causes as little a carbon footprint as possible. We offload our mixed coloured glass daily at our yard in Alloa. From here we transport 28tonne at a time to be cleaned and sorted out into green, brown, and clear glass cullet. This glass cullet is then sent back to manufacturers like O-I in Alloa who then use this glass cullet during the manufacturing process, replacing raw materials (up to 60%). Your old glass bottle or jar could even be back on the shelf as a brand-new glass product within as quickly as 30 days!

We are Scott & Anne Andrew, a husband and wife living with our family in Tillicoultry / Clackmannanshire. Before our new adventure started we both had relatively normal jobs working as a Sales Manager and an Intensive Care Nurse.
Like most great ideas, ours started over a bottle of wine, well an empty one to be honest!
We had heard our local council were planning to stop the uplift of our blue box which we keep all our glass bottles (mainly red wine) & jars in. After a bit of late night brainstorming and Googling, The Bottle Genies were born!
Our aim is to build an honest family business we can be proud of while offering a professional and environmentally responsible service to our local community.
From the very outset of The Bottle Genies, we both agreed to ensure a percentage of all profits would go to a place very dear to our hearts, Strathcarron Hospice.
